Ripple Earns CASP Authorisation in Europe Amid Growing Adoption of Digital Assets
Ripple has reached a significant milestone in its European operations by receiving authorization as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This approval comes under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), making Ripple one of a small number of digital asset firms to hold full MiCA authorisation.
This achievement is part of Ripple's long-term strategy to provide regulatory clarity and trust for institutions operating in Europe. The company has already established partnerships with major banks, such as BBVA and DZ BANK, which have used Ripple's infrastructure to power digital asset custody services.
The European fintech market is expected to drive significant adoption of digital assets, with 72% of European fintechs agreeing that digital asset solutions will become a required offering for financial institutions to remain competitive. Stablecoin payments are also seen as essential, with 44% of European fintechs believing they will become the default for cross-border payments within five years.
Ripple's CASP authorization removes one of the most commonly cited barriers to choosing a regulated digital asset partner, and the company is well-positioned to support institutions in the post-MiCA era with its compliance architecture already in place.
