Ripple Expands in Europe with MiCA License, Seizes Regulated Crypto Growth Opportunity
Ripple is expanding its presence in Europe after securing a MiCA license from Luxembourg's financial regulator, CSSF. This move enables the company to offer regulated crypto payment services across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) under a single compliance framework.
The license, combined with Ripple's existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, allows the company to navigate multiple national regulatory systems more easily. This makes it simpler for banks, payment providers, and enterprises to access Ripple Payments.
Ripple believes that regulatory clarity is essential for institutional trust in crypto adoption. The company's 2026 Global Digital Asset Survey found that nearly 72% of European fintech firms think digital assets will soon be necessary to stay competitive, while almost half expect stablecoin payments to become a core part of their business within the next two years.
Ripple is positioning itself as a key player in Europe's regulated crypto future. The company's payments network now spans more than 60 markets, connects to 51 real-time payment rails, works with over 20 banking partners, and has processed more than $100 billion in payment volume.
