Ripple Expands Institutional Tokenization Infrastructure
Ripple is expanding its institutional tokenization infrastructure to support the full lifecycle of tokenized assets on the XRP Ledger. The company's president, Monica Long, stated that financial institutions are moving rapidly from pilot projects to production-grade activity, with a focus on using tokenized assets for continuous portfolio management.
The XRPL ecosystem links programmable funds with tools such as continuous settlement, liquidity, yield, collateral, and compliance. Ripple's Mint platform provides a unified interface for accessing, minting, redeeming, and managing Ripple USD (RLUSD), while issuing and transferring the stablecoin across fiat and blockchain settlement systems.
The partnership between DBS, Franklin Templeton, and Ripple demonstrates how tokenized assets can support continuous portfolio management after issuance. Eligible DBS clients can trade RLUSD for Franklin Templeton's tokenized money market fund within minutes, retaining access to yield.
Ripple's next expansion point rests with validator decisions on the proposed lending standards, which would determine whether tokenized XRPL assets can support protocol-level institutional borrowing.
