Ripple Impersonation Scam Targets XRP Holders, $19M Stolen
A phishing campaign targeting XRP holders has resurfaced, with scammers impersonating Ripple and offering fake rewards through a 'XRP Holder Tiers' program.
The scheme, which was first highlighted by BankXRP on social media, promised exclusive benefits to users who claimed an XRP badge on a malicious website.
However, instead of delivering rewards, the site tricked users into connecting their wallets or entering their recovery phrases, giving attackers full access to their funds.
Hussein Zangana, director of community at the XRP Ledger Foundation, confirmed that the announcement was entirely fabricated and urged the XRP community to remain vigilant.
The incident is part of a broader pattern of criminals impersonating well-known blockchain organizations to exploit trusted brands.
