Ripple Lawsuit Architect Takes National Intelligence Job, Leaves Crypto Behind

Jay Clayton has taken over as the US Director of National Intelligence (DNI), a position that comes with no power over the SEC, crypto rules, or XRP.

This move is significant because Clayton was the architect behind the lawsuit against Ripple for $1.3 billion in 2020 when he was the SEC chairman.

The lawsuit alleged that Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen sold about $600 million of XRP themselves, but Judge Analisa Torres only found Ripples sales to large institutions broke the law, fining the company $125,035,150.

XRP barely moved after Clayton's appointment, trading near $1.08 on Sunday, up 1.9% on the day, and still down 64% over the past year.
