Ripple Mints $10 Million RLUSD Amid Whale Activity
Ripple recently minted $10 million in RLUSD stablecoins on the XRP Ledger, adding to its treasury inventory. This move comes as large investors, or 'whales', have begun aggressively moving funds and accumulating over 380 million XRP over the past week.
The RLUSD issuance is part of Ripple's B2B business model, which selectively issues stablecoins to meet specific requests from commercial companies through its Mint platform. This differs significantly from Tether's business model, which serves the mass retail market and crypto trading with its enormous turnover.
Tether recently conducted a routine issuance of $1 billion in USDT on the Tron blockchain, increasing its treasury inventory to $91 billion. The difference in volume between the two issuers is explained by their distinct approaches to the stablecoin market.
