Ripple National Trust Bank Faces Crucial Milestones in Operation Timeline
Ripple National Trust Bank is making progress toward operation, but it still faces significant milestones. The bank received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in December 2025. This approval has set a timeline for the bank's path to operation.
The OCC granted conditional approval with the understanding that Ripple must satisfy pre-opening requirements before final authorization is given. These requirements include capital adequacy, AML and KYC compliance systems, risk controls, and a full review of the bank's information systems architecture.
Ripple must raise the required capital by mid-December 2026 to meet one of these milestones. The bank must also notify the OCC in writing at least 60 days before its planned opening, which is set for June 12, 2027. If Ripple meets these deadlines, it can proceed with its plans to offer cryptocurrency custody and reserve management services.
The progress toward operation has been significant, but there are still hurdles to overcome. The OCC's approval letter explicitly states that extensions will be granted only under extenuating circumstances, underscoring the importance of meeting the set deadlines.
