Ripple Partners with Clearpool and Cicada to Bring Institutional Lending to XRPL
Ripple has partnered with Clearpool and Cicada Partners to bring institutional credit to the XRP Ledger, marking a significant step towards mainstream adoption.
The partnership aims to provide real-world lending opportunities for fintechs, payment companies, and other crypto-related businesses, rather than speculative DeFi yields. Clearpool will handle the lending infrastructure, while Cicada Partners will oversee borrower sourcing, underwriting, and credit monitoring.
Ripple is investing alongside other institutional capital in the partnership, which is built around XRPL's proposed XLS-66 Lending Protocol and XLS-65 Single Asset Vaults. This allows for permissioned access and credential-based controls, providing institutions with compliance safeguards they need.
The model could potentially drive further adoption of RLUSD stablecoins, as borrowers use them for payments and settlement. If the deployment scales as planned, institutional credit could emerge as one of the XRP Ledger's next major growth drivers.
