Ripple Partners with Clearpool to Launch Institutional Lending Market on XRPL
Clearpool is building an institutional lending market on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in partnership with Ripple and Cicada. The project aims to create a platform where corporate credit can be issued, settled, and repaid directly on XRPL.
Clearpool says institutions were missing a venue built for credit, rather than lacking on-chain yield. The new lending infrastructure will use RLUSD for loan payments and settlements, with Ripple participating as a liquidity provider and providing the necessary XRPL and RLUSD.
Cicada will handle borrower's financial position, cash flows, and credit history to determine how much they can borrow and what rate they should pay. Borrowers and lenders will need to pass KYC and AML checks.
The lending platform is expected to connect with XRPL's native Automated Market Maker (AMM), allowing market makers providing liquidity to XRP/RLUSD pools to hold both XRP and RLUSD, potentially increasing the use of XRP within the lending ecosystem.
