Ripple Pledges $300K to Nepal Flood Relief Efforts
Ripple has donated $300,000 to two relief organizations, World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps, following devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet. The funding will support emergency meals, clean-water access, and sanitation efforts in affected communities.
The flooding, caused by an ice-rock avalanche from a Himalayan glacier, swept through Nepal's Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts, destroying homes, roads, bridges, power systems, and communications infrastructure. At least 17,000 children were affected in Nepal, with 18 schools destroyed and 20 damaged.
Ripple's donation builds on its existing relationships with both humanitarian organizations. The company had previously worked with Mercy Corps Ventures on a drought-response project in Kenya using Ripple Payments and stablecoin RLUSD.
