Ripple Prepares to Flood Market with Billions in Unlocked XRP
Ripple's XRP community is abuzz with speculation after an intriguing detail was discovered in the registration documents for the Cryptex Digital Market Cap ETF filed with the SEC.
The document, which allocates 4.88% of its fund weight to XRP, includes a statement indicating that Ripple may direct 'additional XRP from escrow' towards supporting liquidity for stablecoins and currency pairs if regulatory clarity emerges in the U.S.
Attorney Bill Morgan noted that this information has not been publicly disclosed by Ripple before, raising questions about where the ETF obtained it.
Some experts agree that the wording likely refers to a market-based maneuver, pointing out that Ripple currently unlocks 1 billion XRP every month but returns 60% to 80% of the unused amount to escrow. They suggest that if institutional demand grows with the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, Ripple could simply stop returning the unused tokens, leaving the full monthly 1 billion XRP in circulation.
The filing shows that major players are already incorporating the possibility of a legally regulated U.S. crypto market into their documents. The fate of this initiative will be decided in Washington in the coming weeks, with a congressional vote on the CLARITY Act scheduled for Sept. 15, 2026.
