Ripple Prepares XRP Ledger for Quantum Era with Four-Stage Plan
Ripple is taking proactive steps to prepare its XRP Ledger (XRPL) for the potential threat of quantum computers.
According to KuCoin, Ripple has outlined a four-stage plan to address this future risk. The plan involves assessing which parts of XRPL could be exposed to quantum threats, testing quantum-resistant cryptography against real network workloads, running current and post-quantum security systems in parallel before migration, and maintaining an emergency path if quantum capabilities advance faster than expected.
XRPL already offers a feature that allows account holders to replace keys controlling an account without changing the account itself, which could make future security migrations easier. While quantum computing is still a future threat, Ripple's preparation is underway to ensure XRPL adapts before this risk becomes immediate.
