Ripple Pushes for Senators to Meet with Crypto Users Before CLARITY Act Vote
Ripple is urging the Senate to meet with ordinary Americans who hold cryptocurrency before voting on the CLARITY Act, which could shape US crypto laws.
The National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA), representing Ripple, claims that over 67 million Americans, or one in four adults, own cryptocurrency. The group has created a state and congressional-district map of crypto ownership to show that digital assets are not limited to tech-savvy individuals.
According to Stuart Alderoty, chief legal officer and president of the NCA, lawmakers should hear directly from individuals who rely on crypto in their daily activities, rather than just lobbyists or policy groups. The 67 million Americans holding cryptocurrency include teachers, plumbers, photographers, and supply-chain managers.
The Senate vote on September 15 is a procedural step that requires a 60-vote majority to advance the bill toward debate. Ripple has called this vote a significant milestone in the bill's journey through Congress.
