Ripple Pushes Senate to Hear from Everyday Crypto Users Before CLARITY Act Vote
Ripple is urging senators to meet with everyday Americans who hold cryptocurrency before voting on the CLARITY Act on September 15th. This move comes after a recent study by the National Cryptocurrency Association found that over 67 million people in the US own cryptocurrencies, making up around one in four adults.
The association's chief legal officer and president, Stuart Alderoty, is pleading with Senate offices to meet with real American crypto holders before the vote. He believes lawmakers should hear directly from individuals who rely on crypto in their daily activities, not just lobbyists or policy groups.
Alderoty's message brings individual users to the forefront of the legislative discussion, highlighting that 41% of cryptocurrency holders use digital assets for payments and shopping, while 40% send them to relatives or peers. The information will provide a consumer-centric basis for conversations on legislation related to the forthcoming US classification and regulation of digital assets.
The CLARITY Act is set to face a procedural vote in the Senate next week, which requires a 60-vote majority to move the bill forward for consideration. Ripple has been pushing for greater clarity in US crypto laws through its extended effort, with this latest appeal targeting millions of Americans who hold and use cryptocurrencies.
