Ripple Scam Exposed: David Schwartz Foils Sophisticated Phishing Operation
Ripple's XRP Ledger chief architect David Schwartz recently thwarted a sophisticated phishing scam targeting XRP investors.
The scammers created an almost flawless clone of Ripple's website, complete with the same deep blue color scheme and branded fonts. The fake site used psychological manipulation to appeal to loyal HODLers (investors who hold onto their tokens through price declines), promising 'a reward for patience, not speculation.'
The site's 'Get Early Access' button, when clicked, would trigger a cryptocurrency drainer that instantly depleted the user's entire XRP balance. Schwartz foiled the plan by simply attaching a GIF with the caption 'IT'S A SCAM!' to a screenshot of the fake website.
