Ripple Scammers Unleash Fake XRP Holder Tiers Announcement

A fake announcement claiming that Ripple was launching 'XRP Holder Tiers' has been flagged as a scam by XRPL Foundation director of community Hussein Zangana (Vet). The announcement, which appeared on a fake XRP-focused Twitter account called 'BankXRP,' allegedly offered holders perks in exchange for claiming an XRP badge. However, according to Vet, Ripple never made such an announcement and users are urged not to click the link to a fraudulent website.

The scam attempt follows a growing trend of scammers impersonating major blockchain organizations to mislead users and potentially put their assets at risk. In recent weeks, XRPL developer Wietse Wind warned of fake tokens, while Firelight, a liquid staking protocol for XRP built on the Flare Network, cautioned against fake accounts impersonating the project.

The warning comes as Seoul police arrested three people over a fraudulent XRP staking platform that impersonated the Flare Network and FXRP projects. The platform allegedly stole about 3.4 million XRP from 71 victims, with the scammers netting around $19 million.
