Ripple Secures UK Approval But Must Reapply Under New Crypto Rules
Ripple has secured registration in the UK under money laundering regulations, allowing certain cryptocurrency activities. However, this approval does not grant full financial services authorization.
The registration was granted to Ripple Markets UK Ltd., a subsidiary of the company. This move demonstrates Ripple's commitment to operating in regulated markets following its legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The UK will introduce new cryptocurrency licensing gateway in September 2026, ahead of comprehensive regulations taking effect on October 25, 2027. Currently registered firms must reapply for authorization under the Financial Services and Markets Act.
