Ripple Teams Up with BBVA to Offer Regulated Crypto Custody Services
Ripple has partnered with Spanish bank BBVA to offer Bitcoin and Ethereum custody services. The partnership marks Ripple's expansion into traditional banking, as financial institutions increasingly seek regulated digital asset solutions.
The agreement leverages Ripple's institutional-grade self-custody technology platform, which will enable BBVA to securely store and manage cryptocurrencies for its customers. This move follows BBVA's launch of Bitcoin and Ethereum trading services in July 2025.
Francisco Maroto, Head of Digital Assets at BBVA, stated that Ripple's custody solution allows them to 'leverage proven and trusted technology' that meets the highest security standards. The partnership reflects growing European bank adoption of crypto services following the implementation of the EU's comprehensive MiCA regulatory framework.
