Ripple Unleashes European Expansion with MiCA Compliance
Ripple is now ready to scale its European expansion after securing regulatory approval under the MiCA framework. The company has received full authorization as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, making its regulated crypto payments product available to financial institutions and businesses across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) countries.
The regulatory groundwork for Ripple's expansion is now in place, allowing the company to focus on scaling digital asset payments, stablecoins, and institutional services across the region. The MiCA transition period ended July 1, creating a potentially valuable opening for companies that already hold full authorization, such as Ripple.
Ripple's emphasis on scale is driven by demand data, which shows that 72% of European fintechs believe digital asset solutions will become necessary for financial institutions to remain competitive. Stablecoins could give banks and businesses another way to move money internationally, manage treasury operations, and settle transactions without depending entirely on traditional correspondent-banking networks.
The next test for Ripple is whether its compliance advantage can translate into significantly more institutional customers, payment flows, and stablecoin activity across Europe. The company's existing infrastructure supports payouts across over 60 major markets, uses 51 real-time payment rails, and works with over 20 banking partners.
