Ripple Unlocks 10th XRP Escrow Release of 2026
Ripple is set to unlock 1 billion XRP on October 1, marking its 10th scheduled escrow release of 2026. This event is part of a monthly process that has been in place since Ripple introduced its escrow program in 2017.
The upcoming release follows nine previous XRP unlocks this year, with approximately 31.28 billion XRP remaining locked in escrow after the September release. It's worth noting that Ripple typically does not release the full amount into circulation, instead relocking most of the unlocked tokens.
Since its inception, the escrow system has provided transparency over Ripple's token holdings by releasing up to 1 billion XRP on the first day of each month. The original 55 billion XRP placed in escrow contracts was designed to create a predictable release schedule for the market.
