Ripple Unlocks 1B XRP from Escrow Amid Monthly Schedule
Ripple recently unlocked 1 billion XRP from escrow as part of its monthly schedule. This move, which occurred on September 1st, does not necessarily mean that Ripple is selling these coins, but rather it allows them to be used in the market.
The unlocking process was done through three separate transactions, totaling 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million XRP respectively. According to Whale Alert, this move brought down the active escrow balance from approximately 32.28 billion XRP to around 31.28 billion XRP.
It's essential to note that unlocking XRP does not guarantee its movement into public trading markets. The company has a history of re-escrowing unused tokens after each release process, which could affect the net number of XRP unlocked by Ripple.
