Ripple Unlocks One Billion XRP Tokens Amid Stable Price
Ripple unlocked one billion XRP tokens from escrow on September 1. The move had little impact on the price, which held steady near $1.37 to $1.39.
Typically, Ripple sends most of the unlocked tokens back into new escrow contracts within hours, rather than releasing them onto the market. This time is no exception: analysts expect 600 million to 900 million XRP will be returned to escrow, leaving about 100 million to 400 million for actual use.
XRP's price has been steadily increasing over the past few months, up around 30.8% in the last 30 days and 14.5% in the last 90 days.
The broader crypto market cap slipped nearly 3% in the same time period as Bitcoin dominance rose.
