Ripple Unlocks Over $1 Billion in XRP Amid Market Momentum
Ripple released $1.38 billion worth of XRP from escrow on September 1, as part of its monthly unlock program.
The 1 billion XRP release reduced Ripple's escrow holdings to 31.28 billion XRP from 32.28 billion XRP.
This is the latest in a series of monthly unlocks that began in December 2017, when Ripple placed 55 billion XRP into time-based escrow contracts on the XRP Ledger.
Historically, Ripple has re-locked most of each month's release, typically between 600 million and 800 million XRP, extending the overall release schedule.
