Ripple has unveiled a four-phase plan to safeguard the XRP Ledger against potential threats from quantum computing. This move follows research by Google, which showed that 500,000 qubits could break current blockchain cryptography in mere minutes.

The company is currently testing post-quantum algorithms ML-DSA and Dilithium, both certified by NIST, with plans to implement upgrades and testnets later this year. Ripple aims for full quantum resistance by 2028.

The XRP Ledger has demonstrated strong security, with only 0.03% of tokens at risk, outperforming Bitcoin in this regard. This development is part of the broader effort by blockchains to prepare for the future threat posed by quantum computing.
