Ripple Unveils Quantum-Resistant Roadmap Amid Record Institutional Capital Inflows
Ripple's XRP Ledger is set for its most significant technical overhaul in years as part of a four-phase program to make it quantum-resistant by 2028. The current secp256k1 and Ed25519 signature schemes will be replaced with hash-based alternatives, shielding the network from future attacks by quantum computers.
The migration will involve a 'parallel operation' phase, during which existing security mechanisms will continue running alongside the new quantum-safe protocols until the migration is complete. This approach aims to avoid network instability that has plagued comparable protocol upgrades on other blockchains.
XRP's spot price currently struggles to keep pace with the institutional machinery being assembled around it. Regulated investment vehicles are absorbing capital at a record pace, despite XRP sitting at $1.39, down 24% year-to-date.
