Ripple's $16 Trillion Transactions: A Visa-Scale Opportunity
Ripple's CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently highlighted the scale of financial activity flowing through the company's expanded ecosystem. In an address, he stated that Ripple touched approximately $16 trillion in transactions last year. This figure is notable because it represents a 'Visa size' reach for the company.
Garlinghouse attributed this achievement to two major acquisitions: Hidden Road and GTreasury, both of which give Ripple visibility into vast payment and clearing flows previously operating on traditional rails.
However, Garlinghouse noted that only 0.1% of this volume currently settles on-chain through stablecoins, XRP, or other blockchain-based assets. The company's goal is to grow both the overall volume it touches and the percentage that settles on blockchain infrastructure.
