Ripple's Brokerage Arm Raises $275M, XRP Price Remains Flat
Ripple's non-bank prime brokerage arm, Ripple Prime, closed an upsized $275 million private placement of senior unsecured notes. This funding will cover working capital and general corporate purposes as the firm expands operations in the US.
The notes were purchased by institutional investors across major financial markets and carry a BBB investment-grade rating from Kroll Bond Rating Agency. This distinction signals lower default risk for these buyers, who have historically been cautious in their investments.
Ripple Prime's president, Noel Kimmel, stated that the funding will be used to invest in the team and technology needed for growth, with the goal of becoming one of the largest non-bank prime brokers globally.
Meanwhile, the XRP price has been trading near $0.9998, hovering just below the psychological $1 level after a modest 0.1% move over 24 hours. This divergence between Ripple's corporate success and XRP's price has led to ongoing debate about how closely these two are linked.
Ripple continues to secure institutional capital and banking relationships through partnerships such as its recent deal with Jeonbuk Bank, which will deploy Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances. This adds to a growing list of Asian institutional wins for the company.
