Ripple's Crypto Lobbying Push Hits Final Stretch Ahead of Crucial Senate Vote
Ripple's legal chief, Bradley Alderoty, is campaigning to save the CLARITY Act by targeting undecided Democratic senators. Instead of lobbying through traditional channels, he has taken a grassroots approach, reaching out directly to constituents who hold digital assets.
Alderoty made his request public, citing that a bloc of senators do not picture their own voters when they picture crypto. He is trying to change this perception by highlighting the diversity of crypto holders, including 67 million Americans from various professions and demographics.
Ripple has been providing data to support its argument, pointing out that there are 232,000 crypto-adjacent jobs in the U.S., generating approximately $55 billion in economic activity. This includes jobs in manufacturing and construction, which outnumber those in finance and tech.
The vote on September 15 is a cloture vote on the motion to proceed with the bill, not a vote on the CLARITY Act itself. If at least 60 senators agree to begin debating the bill, it will be a significant step forward for the legislation.
