Ripple's David Schwartz Exposes Fake Website Scam Targeting XRP Holders
Crypto scammers have been targeting XRP holders with an almost flawless clone of Ripple's website, but their plan was foiled by David Schwartz, the XRP Ledger chief architect. The fake site promises 'something is coming for those who never sold' and offers exclusivity to early access before the doors close.
The scammers used leaked investor databases and methods designed to bypass spam filters in a wave of attacks targeting the XRP Ledger ecosystem in early August. The Xaman wallet, formerly known as Xumm, was also targeted on Aug. 1-2 with attackers compromising its verified X account.
David Schwartz quickly responded to a screenshot of the new site with a GIF captioned: 'IT'S A SCAM!' and may have saved the community from losing money. Ripple has no hidden loyalty programs or secret support funds, and any such offer is a scam.
