Ripple's RLUSD Transactions Spark XRP Price Surge
Ripple's recent RLUSD stablecoin transactions have sparked a significant market rally in XRP. Over the past 24 hours, XRP has climbed nearly 19%, reaching an intraday peak of $1.24 before settling around $1.22.
The price surge coincided with Ripple's issuance and burning of large amounts of RLUSD on various platforms, including the Ethereum network and the XRP Ledger. According to on-chain data compiled by XRPScan, Ripple minted a fresh batch of 900,000 RLUSD on August 20.
This latest issuance followed a series of larger mints reported by the Ripple Stablecoin Tracker throughout the same day. The tracker showed a 20 million RLUSD mint at Ripple's treasury three hours before the most recent event, as well as two further transactions adding another 10 million RLUSD each to the supply.
The rapid turnover of stablecoins indicates Ripple's ongoing strategy of actively calibrating its RLUSD supply in response to market conditions and user demand. By frequently managing both issuance and redemptions across platforms, Ripple aims to maintain RLUSD's equilibrium.
