Ripple's XRP Gains Institutional Traction with Centralized Structure
Ripple's XRP has gained significant traction in recent months, and its prospects for institutional adoption have brightened. Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg believes that XRP will emerge as the leading protocol for financial infrastructure due to its centralized structure, which he thinks is a major advantage over other blockchain protocols. McClurg pointed out that institutional investors prefer more centralized platforms, whereas retail investors tend to favor decentralized alternatives. He cited the recent partnership between Cicada Credit and Clearpool, which brought institutional lending to the XRP Ledger, as a significant development.
McClurg noted that this development will have an outsized impact on XRP's growth, saying it will be 'massive.' He also highlighted the growing interest in XRP among South Korean traders, with trading volume on Upbit surging by 273% since March. McClurg attributed this surge to the country's large population and the strength of the Korean won as a crypto trading pair.
The CEO acknowledged that while Ethereum remains strong in markets like the US and Canada, XRP has become the leading protocol in South Korea. He emphasized that the ability of the XRP Ledger to generate yield will attract additional capital as financial infrastructure gets rebuilt around blockchain rails.
