Ripple has released version 3.3.0 of its XRP Ledger (XRPL), aiming to increase institutional adoption by introducing several proposed amendments focused on privacy, payments, and managing real-world assets.

The upgrade includes Confidential Transfers, which allows institutions to hide balances and transaction amounts for Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs) while keeping the accounts and asset type involved visible. This feature uses cryptographic proofs to verify transactions are valid without revealing underlying amounts.

According to RWA.xyz data, approximately $850 million of the $1.38 billion in Real-World Assets (RWAs) distributed on XRPL is from Ripple's own stablecoin, RLUSD. Other notable tokenized assets include Ondo, Archax, Societe Generale, and VERT Capital.

Other updates in version 3.3.0 include Batch, Sponsor, and Permission Delegation amendments. The Batch amendment allows up to eight transactions to be grouped together, including an atomic mode where all or none succeed. Sponsor enables one account to cover another user's transaction fees and reserve requirements, potentially allowing companies to onboard customers without requiring them to purchase XRP first.
