Rival miners have clashed on the Bitcoin network, resulting in a chain split at block height 961632. Antpool mined the block, while Roughnecks produced a competing version with BIP-110 support.

The split occurred shortly after 4 p.m. EDT and was confirmed by monitoring sites forkwatch.tv and fork.observer. Mempool.space developer Mononaut wrote on X that 'WE HAVE A BIP110 BLOCK' and the race to mine the next block has begun.

BIP-110 supporter Dathon Ohm congratulated Roughnecks for mining the first compliant block, stating that 'Now is where the game theory starts to kick in. BIP-110 is activating.'

The BIP-110 side of the split remains frozen at block 961632, and it may take days to find the next block depending on the hashrate dedicated to the fork.
