RLUSD Enters Agentic Payments Scene with Google, Mastercard Integration
Ripple USD (RLUSD) has found new life as agentic payments gain traction. According to Chandler Fang, co-founder of t54ai, RLUSD's native support for x402 and mainstream agentic protocols from Google and Mastercard gives it the potential to unlock hundreds of merchants and services.
Fang's prediction comes after Ripple launched its XRPL AI Starter Kit in June, which included support for X402-powered payments using XRP and RLUSD. This enables AI agents to transact for APIs, compute, and other digital services.
The kit also integrated Mastercard's Verifiable Intent standard, aligned with Google's Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) and Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). Verifiable Intent creates a tamper-resistant record of user authorizations when an AI agent acts on their behalf.
