RLUSD Hits $2 Billion Mark as Stablecoin Growth Accelerates
Ripple's stablecoin, RLUSD, has reached a market capitalization of $2 billion, marking a significant milestone in its growth since its launch in December 2024.
This achievement is notable as RLUSD is the fastest-growing stablecoin regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), according to XRP Ledger dUNL validator Vet.
Ripple's focus on institutional use, with applications across payments, settlement, liquidity management, tokenization and DeFi, sets it apart from other stablecoins that primarily target retail trading.
The stability of RLUSD is maintained through a 1:1 value with the U.S. dollar, backed by segregated reserves of cash and cash equivalents, which are subject to monthly attestations by an independent U.S.-licensed CPA.
The rapid expansion of RLUSD has implications for the XRP Ledger, as nearly $1 billion of RLUSD is circulating on XRPL, creating a growing pool of dollar-denominated liquidity on the network. Ripple's stablecoin infrastructure is also being deployed across multiple ecosystems, including Ethereum and other blockchains.
This enhanced stablecoin liquidity could drive activity in payments, trading, collateral and tokenized assets, providing XRP holders with additional ways to access dollar liquidity without selling their XRP.
