Robinhood-AMC Dispute Sends MEME Token Soaring Over 3,100-Fold

Share

AMC Entertainment's dispute with Robinhood has sparked a surge in a related token called MEME. This token is linked to a tokenized product tied to AMC shares on Robinhood Chain and has seen a 3,100-fold increase in value since its first day.

The listed share and the token are separate instruments, despite sharing the same ticker. AMC Entertainment's CEO stated that the company did not authorize or endorse the tokenized product on Robinhood Chain, highlighting potential legal and regulatory risks for both parties involved.

A $2,972 purchase of MEME was tracked by Lookonchain and briefly valued at over $2.1 million, but most gains were unrealized. This has raised concerns about liquidity and market manipulation in the crypto market.
