Robinhood and Bitstamp Crypto Volumes Surge, But Fall Short of Last Year
Crypto trading volumes surged on Robinhood and Bitstamp in August, but still fell short of last year's numbers. The combined total came to $17.5 billion, a 61% month-over-month increase, though it represented only 62% of the previous year's figure.
Bitstamp was responsible for the lion's share of trading activity on Robinhood, accounting for approximately 58% of the platform's reported crypto volume with $10.1 billion in trades. In contrast, the Robinhood app itself saw $7.4 billion in trading activity.
The acquisition of Bitstamp by Robinhood in June 2025 has clearly had an impact on the company's crypto trading numbers. With its expansion into new markets and the addition of more than 50 licenses and registrations, Bitstamp has become a significant player in the space.
