Robinhood Blockchain Halts for 14 Minutes Amid Unclear Causes
The Ethereum layer-2 blockchain operated by Robinhood experienced a 14-minute halt on September 4, resulting in all token transfers and smart contract operations coming to a standstill. During this period, users were unable to process transactions, despite being able to broadcast them to the network.
Approximately 8,400 block intervals were missed due to the block production freeze, which lasted from 12:57 p.m. UTC to an unspecified time. The root cause of the issue remains undisclosed by Robinhood.
The halt had significant effects on network activity and platform users. Traders were unable to execute swaps, adjust collateral positions, or settle loan obligations, while blockchain participants faced substantial disruptions.
