Robinhood Brings Crypto Trading to UK with Zero-Fee Option
Robinhood has expanded its UK investing app to include more than 50 cryptocurrencies, allowing eligible customers to buy and sell digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Hyperliquid. The service operates through Bitstamp UK, which Robinhood acquired for $200 million last year. There are no trading, custody or account maintenance fees, but a 0.1% foreign exchange fee applies when converting currencies.
Alongside the launch of crypto trading, Robinhood is introducing Cortex Digests for Crypto, an AI-powered tool that reviews breaking news, market data and technical indicators to explain price movements. The feature aims to provide users with a simple market summary without requiring them to dig through multiple sources.
The expansion comes ahead of the UK's new crypto authorization regime, which is expected to take effect in October 2027. Robinhood has already registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), but will need to obtain separate authorization under the future system.
