Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev broke his silence on a recent hack that compromised his X account. Hackers used the profile to promote a fake crypto scheme, but Robinhood quickly responded by clarifying that it had not launched any cryptocurrency tokens despite its involvement in the sector.
Tenev returned to the platform and stated that Robinhood was 'awaiting details' from X to better understand what happened. He emphasized that the trading giant had not issued any coins or tokens, and advised users to stay safe by being cautious of fake promotions.
The hack follows a familiar pattern where attackers take control of high-profile social accounts to promote fake tokens or giveaways. In 2020, hackers gained access to dozens of prominent X accounts, including those linked to Elon Musk, to advertise a fake BTC giveaway.
