Robinhood CEO Tenev Seeks Regulatory Clarity Amid Trump Administration's Crypto-Friendly Stance
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev has praised the Trump administration for its crypto-friendly stance but emphasized that regulatory stability is crucial for the industry's growth. Speaking during the company's second-quarter earnings call, Tenev said that while the current administration has been 'great' for the sector, clear and durable regulations are necessary to prevent sudden changes.
Tenev cited the Clarity Act as an important step towards achieving this goal. The act aims to provide regulatory stability by establishing a framework for regulating digital assets in the US, which could boost many of Robinhood's offerings currently under development.
In other news, Robinhood reported record revenue of $1.3 billion in the second quarter, with transaction-based revenues surging 44% year-over-year to $776 million. However, cryptocurrency revenue plummeted 38%, adding to another quarter of decline.
