Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X Account Hacked for Fake Memecoin Promotion
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was hacked to promote a fake memecoin called VLAD. The hackers claimed that VLAD would be listed on Robinhood and serve as the Robinhood Chain mascot.
The hijacked message included a blockchain wallet address and a token contract address, but it was removed after Robinhood confirmed the breach through its official communications account.
According to Finanzen.net, an onchain data provider reported that hackers exploited approximately 650 Ether (ETH), worth between $1.2 million and $1.3 million.
The scam's broader context was highlighted by Cryptonews.net's report that onchain data showed insiders cashed over $1 million in profits, even as the token continued trading after the promotional message disappeared.
