Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X Account Hacked in Memecoin Scam
The X account of Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev was hacked to promote a fake memecoin called VLAD, which claimed it would be listed on Robinhood and serve as the Robinhood Chain mascot.
The attackers created an exploit contract via PonsLaunchFactory, which is linked to the hacker group. They exploited approximately 650 ETH, worth between $1.2 million and $1.3 million, according to TradingView.
The hacked post attracted over 175,000 views in less than 20 minutes before users identified it as a scam and warned others not to interact with the token. The VLAD memecoin briefly reached a $10 million market cap before Robinhood confirmed the breach and removed the promotional message.
Rubinhood stated through its official communications account that they are working with X to restore access to Tenev's account and have removed the post promoting the fake memecoin. The company is also investigating the incident and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
