Robinhood CEO's Account Hacked Amid Memecoin Frenzy
Robinhood's blockchain network has been attracting significant attention in recent days, with over $700 million in assets being added to it. Amidst this surge in interest, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was compromised and used to promote a fake memecoin.
The post introduced the token called Vladhood ($VLAD) as the 'official Robinhood chain mascot', falsely claiming that it would be listed on the Robinhood app. The company quickly removed the fraudulent message after realizing what had happened.
This incident is not an isolated one, as Airbnb Chief Executive Brian Chesky's X account was also hacked recently. In that case, AI-generated posts promoted the tokenization of real-world assets, such as real estate and bonds.
