Robinhood CEO's Social Media Account Hacked, Fake Cryptocurrency Promoted
Cybercriminals breached Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's social media account on X, pushing a fake cryptocurrency called Vladhood ($VLAD) that claimed to be listed on the trading platform.
The malicious post garnered over 175,000 impressions within 20 minutes before users flagged it as illegitimate. The attackers successfully siphoned approximately $1.2 million to $1.3 million in Ethereum (650 Ether).
Rohinhood acknowledged the security breach and stated it is collaborating with X to regain control of the compromised profile.
