Robinhood CEO's X Account Hacked in $1.3M Crypto Scam
A sophisticated crypto scam targeting retail investors compromised Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X (formerly Twitter) account on July 23, 2026. The attackers promoted a new meme coin called 'Vladhood' ($VLAD), claiming it was the 'official mascot' of the recently launched Robinhood Chain.
The scam was a coordinated 'pump-and-dump' scheme, with ten wallets pre-funded via Relay approximately two hours before the public announcement. These wallets aggressively purchased $VLAD tokens, establishing a 70% ownership cluster. Once public interest spiked following the compromised post, these addresses liquidated their holdings, netting an estimated 650 ETH (valued between $1.2 million and $1.3 million).
The incident highlights the vulnerability of high-profile digital identities in the crypto-asset sector. The Robinhood Chain has been heavily dominated by meme coin trading since its launch on July 1, 2026, with over $750 million in on-chain assets and daily volume reaching $9 billion.
