Robinhood CEO's X Account Hijacked to Promote Fake Meme Coin VLAD

Hackers gained control of Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's verified X account on Thursday and used it to promote a fake meme coin called VLAD, claiming it would be listed on the Robinhood app.

The post was up for only under 20 minutes before users flagged it as a scam, but not before it drew over 175,000 views and resulted in around 650 ETH (about $1.2 million) being taken in through 1,868 trades.

Robinhood swiftly secured the account and removed the post, which falsely described VLAD as the 'official mascot of Robinhood Chain', a blockchain launched by the company just three weeks ago to trade tokenized stocks and other real-world assets.
