The Robinhood Chain, a Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum Orbit for the brokerage giant's transactions, experienced delays in posting batches to Ethereum due to market conditions. However, Arbitrum confirmed that the chain remained operational throughout and drew a distinction between 'delays' and 'downtime', emphasizing that users could still submit and receive soft confirmations for transactions.
The incident occurred on September 4, 2026, when Robinhood Chain experienced a temporary stall in block production lasting between 4-14 minutes. This translates to approximately 8,400 missed blocks at the chain's target cadence of roughly 100 milliseconds per block.
Arbitrum attributed the delays to Ethereum market behavior rather than any failure in Robinhood Chain's infrastructure. No funds were lost or compromised during the episode. The network relies on a centralized sequencer that orders transactions and bundles them into batches, which continued operating despite the delays.
