Robinhood Chain Fees Criticized by Solana Co-Founder
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has criticized Robinhood Chain's high transaction fees, arguing that the brokerage profits from network congestion rather than charging users openly within its own app.
The average fee for a transaction on Robinhood Chain is around $0.40, with usage having climbed significantly since its launch on mainnet in July 2026. In contrast, Solana handles similar work for a fraction of a cent, with a base fee of 5,000 lamports per signature.
Robinhood Chain's high fees have led to congestion on the network, causing costs to rise. According to data, Robinhood Chain fees reached $4.22 million in one day against roughly 10.4 million transactions, landing near $0.40 each. This is despite the fact that the network charges a median cost of $0.24, ranking it first among 27 chains.
The growth in usage can be attributed to Grayscale's recent naming of Robinhood Chain as one of the three leading venues for tokenized stock trading, alongside BNB Chain and Solana. However, this has also led to higher fees, with Yakovenko arguing that the brokerage could have given users a gas-free experience if it had taken a different approach.
