Robinhood Chain Gas Fees Soar 82 Times in 11 Days, Surpassing All Other Chains
The day gas fees for Robinhood's Ethereum Layer 2 network, Robinhood Chain, skyrocketed by an astonishing 82 times in just 11 days, surpassing all other blockchain networks. According to DeFiLlama data, the daily gas fee on Robinhood Chain surged from approximately $56,000 on August 23 to around $3.75 million on September 1.
The network's gas fees have been breaking records for several days in a row, with its average transaction cost reaching $0.33 as of September 1. This is significantly higher than the gas fees on other popular chains like Base and Solana, which stood at approximately $0.0026 and $0.013 respectively.
The sharp increase in gas fees can be attributed to high trading volumes on the chain's decentralized exchange (DEX), with a significant portion of these transactions being driven by meme coin speculation. Robinhood Chain has been experiencing unusually high trading activity, with daily transaction volumes reaching over $100 million.
